Dr. Ng is honoured for his achievement in teaching. He is the winner of the Best Teacher Award 1999 of the Faculty of Engineering. Dr. Ng's achievement i teaching are reflected by very favourable student opinion, innovative teaching methods, the many teaching and learning project grants he has obtained, and the publications written and presentations made arising from educational research. Dr. Ng's philosophy in teaching based on "FOCAL" which stands forfairnessto all students;opennessand accessibility to students;carefor the students' need;applicabilityof the teaching materials used; andlearningas a teacher through participation in teaching and educational development.

For the past few years, he was a Board Member of the Public Examination Board of the HKEAA and also involved in the curriculum development of the information technology subject for the senior secondary schools in EDB. His research interests include social media analysis, data mining, and health informatics.
