Virginie Nazabal

Virginie Nazabal received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemistry from Ecole Normale Supérieure, University of Paris VI, in 1996, and the Ph.D. degree in solid state chemistry and material sciences from the University of Bordeaux, France, in 1999. She joined the NIMS, Tsukuba, Japan, as a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2000. She has belonged to the CNRS as a permanent Researcher since 2001 and has been a Senior Researcher with CNRS since 2015. Her research activity is dedicated to vitreous materials for optics with the Institute of Chemical Sciences, University of Rennes, France. She is currently exploring the potential offered by glass, thin films, and fibers for photonic devices, such as infrared optical sensors. She is the coauthor of three chapters of book and more than 175 peer-reviewed scientific articles. She received in 2010 the Bronze Medal of CNRS and the Pollutec-Ademe Award in 2011 for Innovative Techniques for the Environment.
