His research interest is diverse and has contributed to the fields of myostatin, obesity in age-related hearing impairment, evaluation of anti-inflammatory effect of statin with PET-CT, and human genetics of Graves’ disease and anti-thyroid drug-induced agranulocytosis, and so forth. His recent research focus is related to genetic regulation of adipogenesis and its translational application. Currently he is a professor and the director of the Graduate Institute of Clinical Medicine, College of Medicine, NTU. He is also an attending physician in the Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism, Department of Internal Medicine, NTU Hospital. In his clinical practice, he regularly sees patients with diabetes mellitus and other endocrine disorders. He is also appointed to oversee the administration of Research Center for Developmental Biology & Regenerative Medicine of NTU and Center for Obesity, Lifestyle and Metabolic Surgery of the university hospital. In 2014, he was awarded Distinguished Professorship by NTU for his accomplishment in teaching and research.
