Dr. Wen seeks to identify and evaluate genetic risk variants and biomarkers in relation to breast, colorectal, and lung cancer, obesity, and cancer survival. He conducts post-GWAS functional genomic studies to delineate the causal genetic variants and biological mechanisms of cancers. He builds cancer risk prediction models to identify high-risk populations using identified genetic risk variants and environmental risk factors.
Dr. Wen develops computational epigenetics and statistical framework to establish a landscape of genetic variation of transcription factors and DNA bindings for cancer risk. He investigates the association of lifestyle and dietary factors with population health.
Dr. Wen has had the leading role in providing statistical support to meet scientific research needs in the Division of Epidemiology, which includes survival and longitudinal analysis, statistical genetics, epigenetics analysis, computational programming, and causal inference.
