His research interest is small/bioinspired robotics, intelligent robotic systems, and their applications, particularly in biomedical engineering. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal/conference papers, including the top multidisciplinary journal (e.g., Science Robotics, Nature Communications, PNAS), top specialized journal (e.g., IEEE Trans on Robotics), top international conference (e.g., ICRA, IROS), with widely reported by international media, e.g., Associated Press, Thomson Reuters, etc. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, Distinguish lecture of IEEE Robotic and Automation society, an Executive member of China Micro-nano Robot Society, China Coexisting-Cooperative-Cognitive Robot Society, and the Associate Editor of the flagging robotic journal IEEE Trans on Robotics (2019.7-). He is a recipient of the Best Manipulation Paper Award in IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA), the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Japan Chapter Young Award, the Big-on-Small Award at MARSS, Outstanding Supervisor Award in CityU, the Early Career Awards of Hong Kong UGC, the “National Excellent Young Scientist (Hong Kong & Macau)” for the topic “micro/nano robot”, etc.
