Research summary
Our group is interested in synthesising materials with characterisic crystal and amorphous structures, applying the materials in Na-ion and K-ion batteries, and understanding how the atomic arrangement in these materials, such as local defects and long-range disorder, affect ion/electron transfer and transport. We are investigating chemical/physical processes occurring at electrode/electrolyte interface and within solids to understand molecular structures in determining local electrochemical activity. We are also interested in exploring new battery types and the associated cell chemistries, aiming to extend the understanding acquired from Na-ion and K-ion batteries to a wider range of energy storage technologies.
