Yee-Wen Yen

Yee-Wen Yen received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering from National Tsing-Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan. He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taipei, Taiwan. Besides conducting research in electronic packaging, he is also involved in the development of novel methods to synthesize carbon nanotubes and in the investigations of the technology to inhibit Sn whisker formation in electronic devices. His current research interests include material thermodynamics, especially in phase equilibria and interfacial reactions between lead-free solders and several substrates. Prof. Yen was a Young Leader of the Minerals, Metals & Materials Society in 2006. He received the Outstanding Research Award in 2008 and Outstanding Teacher Award in 2010 from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology.
