Wolf Yochai

I have been working on broad aspects of both immunology and cancer biology for the last 14 years. I have an extensive background in immunology, focusing on myeloid cell biology, inflammation and autoimmunity, and recently in tumor immunology and genomics . I was trained in multiple laboratories; Dr. Hermona Soreq (M.Sc), Dr. Steffen Jung (Ph.D), Dr. Yardena Samuels (Postdoc) and Prof. Vijay Kuchroo (Postdoc). In my past and present work in the cancer immunology field I integrate my knowledge and experience of both fields, as I was trained both in the anti-tumor response and cancer genome landscapes. Among my scientific achievements are deciphering the ontogeny of monocytes and tissue resident macrophages using novel Cre-loxP in-vivo systems; the discovery and characterization of brown adipose tissue resident macrophages; Establishment of a novel in vivo system to investigate the interrelations between tumor mutational load, tumor heterogeneity, and anti-tumor immunity; In-depth study of T cell stem-ness and the checkpoint molecule TIM-3. These achievements were published in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and have contributed to the scientific community. In addition, I have also collaborated with many scientists abroad, in the US, UK and Europe. As of September 2021, I will join the Ella Lemelbaum Institute for Immuno-Oncology at Sheba Medical Center, Israel, in which I will head the Research and Development lab of the institute, focusing on human anti-tumor immunity. My current research interests are immunometabolism, proteostasis, and establishment of better adoptive cell transfer products for novel immunotherapeutic approaches.
