Plant maintain pluripotent cell pools in meristems. We are interested in the capacity of meristems to change developmental tracts by combination of external and internal cues. To that end, we are studying the floral transition of apical tomato meristems. We take advantage of their accessibility and the and the ease of generating customized changes in this plant. We ask how the change is triggered, how it is maintained and what determines its progression.
