Combine and Conquer: Social Networks and Psychological Process for Understanding Behavior
Academy of Management Proceedings(2019)
The U. of Texas at Austin
Abstract
Management scholars have taken increasing interest in the interplay of social network structure and psychological processes in organizations. Exploring longstanding social network theories alongside psychological theories has revealed more comprehensive understandings of several important phenomena in organizational behavior. Yet, these investigations and results are only part of wider-spread and ongoing research efforts to understand systematic patterns of behavior through joint consideration of social structure and psychological processes. In this symposium, we include papers that show how features of ties and broader social networks intertwine with psychological processes to explain other areas of OB. Domains addressed in these papers include conflict styles, ethnic and gender differences, lay beliefs, entrepreneurship and narcissism. The papers in this symposium reveal an in-depth look at how psychological processes work as antecedents or outcomes of social networks. - Pretraining has recently greatly promoted the development of natural language processing (NLP)
- We show that M6 outperforms the baselines in multimodal downstream tasks, and the large M6 with 10 parameters can reach a better performance
- We propose a method called M6 that is able to process information of multiple modalities and perform both single-modal and cross-modal understanding and generation
- The model is scaled to large model with 10 billion parameters with sophisticated deployment, and the 10 -parameter M6-large is the largest pretrained model in Chinese
- Experimental results show that our proposed M6 outperforms the baseline in a number of downstream tasks concerning both single modality and multiple modalities We will continue the pretraining of extremely large models by increasing data to explore the limit of its performance
