    Abstract
    20世纪以来,我国社会发展经历了深刻的变革.该文章从历史角度总结分析美育的思想政治教育功能发现,以爱国主义为精神引领是美育思想政治教育功能的根本准则,以人文关怀为核心要义是美育思想政治教育功能的根本取向,以历史方位为时代使命是美育思想政治教育功能的根本保证.美育承载着重要的思想政治教育功能,具体表现为人生导向功能、道德培育功能、人格塑造功能、激发创新功能和规范约束功能的个体性维度,以及政治功能、经济功能、文化功能和生态功能的社会性维度.美育是我国培养学生全面发展教育方针的重要组成部分,在新时代,高校应着力发挥美育独特的思想政治教育功能,通过坚持办学方向、熔炼正确价值观念,遵循美育特点、完善个体人格修养,深化教学改革、提高服务社会水平,坚定文化自信、推动文化传承创新,紧跟时代主题、助力美丽中国建设等途径充分发挥美育的功能,从而为培育时代新人和实现中华民族复兴伟业提供动力.
